Since mid-March, two hospitals use their reactive agents for PCR tests
The fight against coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 is a priority for ongoing research. Companies such as Canvax Biotech are well prepared to work in the field of diagnosis, as shown by the fact that this small Cordoba-based company is the only one in Spain ready to produce the reactive agent needed to make PCR test for detection of COVID-19. In their 1,500-square-meter lab they have developed three types of coronavirus detection kits in just one step, four extraction kits and seven related enzyme and reactive agents.
Founded in 2001 in Cordoba, Canvax Biotech currently has ten patents due to their intense R&D work in the area of molecular and cellular biology. Their business areas focus on pharmaceutical products and drugs, reactive agents, biosensors and “molecular nose” (molecular sensors which detect cancer through smell). Their catalog currently includes over 450 products based on molecular biology.
