Maersk cargo ship

The main shipping company worldwide offers since February a new regular service from the port of Huelva

This shipping company aims to offer oversea routes from the port of Huelva to pretty much any destination in the world. Maersk’s vertical service integration strategy complements this sea route with regular railway routes transporting containers from the port of Huelva to various regions in Andalusia, Spain and Portugal. Authorities consider that the presence of Maersk in Huelva beneficial for the region, considering this feeder will move other large oversea route operators to move to Huelva, city that establishes itself as a global, logistical port for both European and Worldwide destinations.

Maersk, Copenhagen-based company and largest cargo ship operator in the world, now offers this route thanks to the support of local institutions and the full commitment of companies comprising the port network. To make this port profitable, the company needs to transport about 150 containers weekly, a feasible amount considering the large number of companies that operates within the port's logistical area.
