This data was recently published by the Andalusian Government’s yearly report on energy infrastructures l sobre infraestructuras energéticas

Andalusia added 887 megawatts (MW) of installed electrical power through new renewable energy projects in 2020, accounting for an estimated €750-million investment and the creation of some 3,000 jobs during the construction phase. According to Andalusia’s Energy Agency, 46% of the region’s installed power is renewable, thus preventing the release of over 5 million tons of CO2 to the atmosphere, and increase of 12.3% compared to 2019.

Photovoltaic fields were the projects with the greatest level of implementation in 2020. Fourteen (of more than 10 MW power) were commissioned: 752.31 megawatts (MW). These additions, together with the development of photovoltaic self-consumption and smaller photovoltaic installations, have allowed Andalusia to reach 2,672 MW of photovoltaic power in late 2020. As for wind energy, the region has a new 23.6-MW wind farm in Malaga, for a total of 154 farms account for an overall wind power of 3,472 MW.

According to Agency representatives, these new renewable energy plants are a mere part of the large number of projects currently being processed in Andalusia, which consolidates its position as a clean energy reference.
