Entrance to Tesco Supermarket

The company The Food Co will market the products of British chain in a 600-square-meter center in Las Lagunas

Food Co is about to put its first spade into the ground at Malaga. The company, which will market the products of British giant Tesco, will open its first supermarket in Andalusia in the town of Mijas. The idea is to open the store between the towns of Fuengirola and Mijas, in the area of Las Lagunas. Works to refurbish the premises and recruit personnel are already underway. The Food Co will market some 7,500 Tesco products and all its workforce will speak English, with the aim to provide services adapted to the needs of British expats residing in Costa del Sol.

The Food Co’s portfolio will include products of Tesco, leading company in the British market that owns over 2,500 supermarkets in twelve countries. The Overseas Imports, based in Alicante and managed by Bryn Robertson, is in charge of this project and worked hard to reach an agreement with the British chain in order to distribute their products in Spain. Robertson also leads Overseas Supermarkets, company which collaborates with Iceland supermarkets at the Miramar shopping center (Fuengirola).
